Award-Winning Service

Our goal is to provide high-quality wastewater services that protect community health and the Willamette River. The MWMC seeks to be an industry leader in wastewater treatment, resource recovery, and community engagement. These are some of the awards that the dedicated staff of Eugene and Springfield have won for their work.

2025

  • James McClendon, Finance & Administrative Manager for the City of Eugene's Wastewater Division, accepted the award on behalf of the MWMC at the 2025 WEF Tech Conference in Chicago. James, pictured above holding the framed award, received it from the WEF Awards Committee.WEF & NACWA Utility of the Future Re-certification – in the areas of Partnership and Community Engagement
  • NACWA National Environmental Achievement Award – Public Information and Education E-Media category for Pollution Prevention Digital Advertising Campaign
  • NACWA Silver Peak Performance Award
  • Oregon ACWA Outstanding Agency Project Award – for partnership and restoration efforts as part of the Pure Water Partners

2024

  • NACWA Platinum Peak Performance Award – 17 consecutive years of 100% NPDES permit effluent limits compliance
  • NACWA National Environment Achievement Award – Public Information and Education category for Clean Water University
  • Environmental Achievement Award – from the Pacific Northwest International Section of the Air and Waste Management Association for the MWMC Renewable Natural Gas Facility
