Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission Adopts 2025-26 Budget

At its monthly meeting on Friday, June 13, the Metropolitan Wastewater Management Commission (MWMC) adopted its budget for Fiscal Year 2025-26.

The operating budget is approximately $27 million and includes a rate change for users, adjusting fees by five percent, translating to approximately a $1.60 monthly increase (per 5,000 gallons of wastewater treated). The budget increase was primarily due to inflation and infrastructure projects that are necessary to maintaining the wastewater treatment process and meeting regulatory requirements.  Wastewater staff also continued operating the Renewable Natural Gas facility as an additional source of revenue. It is projected to bring in approximately $1.6 million in the next fiscal year.

Before the MWMC formally adopted its budget, it was approved by all the governing bodies in the partnership, including the Eugene and Springfield City Councils and the Lane County Board of County Commissioners.
